Why Lord, why?

All the lights
Everywhere
Police Lights
Ambulance Lights
Fire Truck Lights
Why the hell do they need fire trucks?
Ain’t no fire.
Maybe the fire burning in my heart…
But he’s gone

3 year old little girl wants to see her daddy
Go little girl
Look on the lawn
There your daddy’s layin’
In a pool of blood
But then, it’s not her fault
Or her mothers
Or mine
It wasn’t even his

As I look at the lights
The little girl who once had a father
To love her
The pool of blood
And the lifeless body swimming in it
I do the unthinkable
I fall to my knees
Look up at the sky
And cry, “Why lord, why!”

Why did he have to die?
Three bullets in his back
Why?
Because he decided to look back
Back at two dudes in a car
Tryin’ to play God, taken lives as they see fit

As I hear the mamma cryin’
The sirens roaring
The police questioning
As if they can’t figure out what has happened
He’s Dead
I do the unthinkable
I fall to my knees
Look up at the sky
And cry, “Why lord, why!”

I look at the body laying on the lawn
Just a body
Not my friend
My play big brother
Not the boy who taught me how to play basketball
Just a body
With his glassy eyes rolled back into his head.
On his face the pain of his death
He didn’t deserve to die
I fall to my knees
Look up at the sky
And cry, “Why lord, why!”

Mood: learning to love music and poetry again

I'm sorry for your lost....

I really like this poem...
It was really switched up, because I thought of you as the incent bystander but at the end it was more like you were the person.

overall, this was a good piece.

And make God continue to bless you.

sorry to hear of thy lost, as sadly this is becoming so common in our community... young black men feeling the need to prove their manhood as some would say... no value on life itself, but please know it's not the man above fault... sometimes it just happens, and it's ones time to go... yes be with thy heavenly father... in summary i shall keep u and this family in thy prayers as now another young little girl shall grow up without a father...

Mood: Embracing who I am each day....

This is truly a sad poem...I am sorry for your loss. This was so sad but at the same time it was an honest look at the way society treats us as people. That sounds confusing, but when you look at crime and brothers killing brothers...(not necessarily having to be african-american we are all brothers and sisters in christ) we were once united... all working toward one goal.... success....
When a young man is shot point blank without a reason, the first thing people will suspect is that he was in some kind of trouble or something gang-related....in reality that is not always the case. People out here are always trying to "Play God" when in reality they cannot.....

My best friend was shot in his chest....we all thought he'd die, but luckily he did not....
Things we take for granted are things we do everyday...walking, standing outside....living....some things we all need to think about.

now we are potential victims regardless of what we get ourselves into (or not)

Nice post!

Sami~*

why Lord why, indeed...although I am sure the Lord is just as heartbroken over all the pain and brokenness in the world.....we humans can abuse our precious gift of free will, so easily....get so far from the sacredness and precious gift of our life, and of others lives.....to the point where someone can take out someone else's existence, in the blink of an eye a moment like that can change someone's life forever-powerful moments that stain their life and the lives around them always....many who dont deserve to die, tragic, how so many die young in this turbulent world, before their wings were even fully opened to soar....may God have mercy on this lost world, where people play with the precious lives and so many are lost to the careless violence in the streets, and murder those precious creations He created so lovingly and with such care and detail.....a deep and honest write~*God Bless UR steps~*

i am sorry for your sorry, such a ironic undertone of why? in which the pastor centralized the emphasis on not to question for it is his will and so let it be done... a clear obstructure of the chivilry inbetween silence a tongue or immortalized a denounced faith. sorted truths on both instance of hardship whether loud or faint our fate is not our own: but, his////

thy will be done for the benefit of a answer we shall never know, but to remain in a cloaked of lament..., a gathered healing process we all venture from time and time yet alone! a mastery how in our weakness, it makes us strong.... do remember that always....

Yes, many things happen and the cry is 'Why Lord, Why?' Guess thats something we won't know until we reside with God.

Thankyou for sharing, Poet!angel25

first off, i am truly sorry for your loss, sis.
the emotion in your poem almost brought me to tears. you are a very talented woman, and the passion in this peice is overwhelming (in a good way!) my favorite part was in the opening,
"Why the hell do they need fire trucks?
Ain’t no fire.
Maybe the fire burning in my heart…"
but the entirething was beautiful. "why?" is a question we all have, but we never seem to get a satisfactory answer. god bless and keep on writin! :)

Mood: In LOVE with life

Sami....

My heart is saddened as I read these words. Death is so hard to deal with, and even more so when it is someone that we love, when it is someone that was ood, that was true, and when it is someone so young. One of the most un-natural, natural things to have to deal with, no wonder one would ask God why.
But we must not forget that he feels pain too. To see his beautiful creation suffer. To see the violence that has filled this beautiful earth that he has provided. To see the hurt hearts and tears of mothers, fathers and friends. Never shoudl we forget when Christ died there was an earthquake...a sin of our heavenly Fathers' reaction...yes he feels this pain too. On the other hand he is not to blame for thse misfortunes....still we turn to him to ask him why because we know e's the only one who can bring an end to such suffering...he can bring real comfort, true comfort.
When I read things like this I reflect on one of my favorite Psalms (37: 10)which begins..."And just a little while longer and the wicked one will be no more......"
I will keep you in my prayers as well.....I am so terribly sorry for your loss.

Poetic love sis...
