Mood: con un nuevo amor para vida

Death

Death has a distinct scent--
smell so sadistic no amount of bleach
or pneumonia can scrub gone.

Perfume never mistaken spring gardens,
aroma that haunts--
stains the edge of the conscience.

Stench worse than rotten chitterlings--
toxic waste treatment plants
spawning noxious clouds of sulfur.

Death has an odor so appalling
it leaches to our morbid lives
wherever we go.

"Death has a distinct scent--

the way you opened the poem made it impossible for me to not keep reading!
honestly, this is a little depressing....
but that certainly doesn't lessen how great i thought it was!
good peice! :)

Mood: letting go...& letting God

Ariono-jovan Labu~*

read this before, but wanted to come back and read it again before commenting.....the last line really tied in the whole poem for me, as death does cling to our mortal bodies....wherever we go, the possibility of death follows, its kinda ironic really....we have life (due to God's grace and love) but yet, we are only here temporarily, the sands of time are always running....very descriptive poem, about the smell of death.....also got me thinking of the invisible smell of death, the intangible one, just the reality that hovers over us all that we will die someday....although I believe our souls live on, eternally, just strange to think I will die one day....hopefully the good Lord gives me plenty of time to enjoy my children's life moments before my sands of time run out, for my mortal life anyways....God Bless UR steps~*

Mood: Embracing who I am each day....

Wow.. this was a little more intense than I an used to reading from you.... anywho, it was still greatness. I am glad that you have such an honest perception of death. Not many people (including me) are at all bothered or worried about the fact that each second is a precious gift and proof of mercy. I had to reread this poem to fully understand the tone you wanted to set here. I really Like Soar~*'s comment about the invisible smell of death and the possibility of dying. that is more important that we realize...

i never looked at death in that light but it's reality for all my friend... yes thy saviour died so all could live sin free, yet still one flesh must disappear literally... what i'm saying i shall not dwell on something that will happen, but i will try to live the christian way while on this earth...

Mood: In LOVE with life

[*] posted on 1-21-2010 at 02:31 PM

It sure does...
Reading this piece just reminds us of how un-natural death is. It is something that one can never and will never be able to condition our hearts and minds to accept, understand, and forget.

Death has an odor so appalling
it leaches to our morbid lives
wherever we go.

Likening death to a terrible odor though is genious, and like leaches...amazing.the imagery here is just so scary actually, but amazing in regards to your writing abilities.
Regarding to content, it does haunt us, all of us.looms over all of humankind like a dark cloud, and we're all just waiting for the rain fall to hit our faces (unfortunately)
And too it plagues our memories, remembering those that we've loved and lost, like a bad smell you can't forget, or can't get out of your house....wishing, hoping and praying it would go away.
Most importantly... I look forward to the day that I'll never smell the stentch again.
thanks poet

Kinda made me think that some of us are already dead even though we're breathing. One of the only things garaunteed to us is death. It's definitely not a pleasant thought, but it is the truth. Keep doing your thing.

smell of death

it is the most awful thang in the world. a smell i never wanna experience again. Even when sum 1 is dying, it's very unpleasant & scary. I wish 4 no one 2 have 2 see or smell it. My neighbor died, body imploding. No one new. It was a very hot weekendl. We thougt it was the sewer. I felt bad i hadn't check'd on him. What a reminder! :o

Sounds like u experienced this 1st hand, & 4 that I'm sorry.
Accurate description. U keep it very real. TY!

For every action there is a reaction. It's out of our control if the reaction is negative, but it's up to us to remain positive.

Don't cry over spilled milk. Just wipe it up and keep on going.
