crucified/one nation under God

I feel the kerosene
Running from the crown of my head
To the soles of my feet
Guilty hands
Lifted in false praise
Blasphemous voices sing
To angels on high
The unholiest of unholies
Bind me to the cross of their shame
Filled with the spirit of hate
They dance like David
While the noose is tightened around my neck
Let your light shine
Through the countryside
So that the ignorant will forever
Know their place and their master
Where is the God in this?

Hi there edabjl1971!
This piece of art had me scratching my head for a while as I tried to pin down the subject matter. Eventually I decided it could be about the injustices of the Klu Klux Klan. Sorry if I've misinterpreted your piece but taking it from that point of view I understand the last line:

'Where is the God in this?'

I enjoyed this because the imagery used to paint this disturbing picture is excellent.

Thank you for sharing! :saint:

edabjl1971 ~*

a deep write, where is the God in this indeed? but as you aptly said, 'filled with the spirit of hate', God was not present within them when they put actions to their hate and fear and ignorance, a deadly combination...there is a king of Hate that was present alright, but it wasn't God, as God is the author of LOVE and would NEVER, COULD never be a part of such ugliness and prejudice and hate.....its just imperfect vessels twisting their faith to suit themselves and their warped perspective...not looking at their faith with eyes and hearts wide open, with clarity and truth to what their Christian faith teaches about loving one another and thou shalt not kill...a thought provoking write...God Bless UR steps~*
